Nehru Yuva Kendra organises Meri Maati Mera Desh Campaign in Tamil Nadu

Meri Maati Mera Desh (My Soil, My Nation), a mega campaign envisaged as a culminating event of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiated by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India in coordination with various Central & State Government departments & Panchayatiraj institutions, has begun in all the districts of Tamilnadu. 

As part of the campaign, multifarious activities like planting of 75 saplings, administering of Panch Pran Pledge, felicitation of freedom fighters & serving and retired personnel of defense, hoisting of the national flag and singing of national anthem etc were organized at urban & village panchayat level. The village panchayat level programmes will continue till 15 August 2023.

As a continuation of the campaign, mitti (soil) will be collected from all blocks and would be carried to the national capital. The final event will be held at Kartavya Path, New Delhi from 27th to 30th August and soil collected from all parts of the country would be utilized to develop a unique garden called Amrit Vatika.

Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) Chennai conducted Meri Mati Mera Desh programme at Govt Youth Hostel, Adyar in Chennai. Mr. K. Kunhammed, State Director, NYKS, Tamilnadu & Puducherry was the chief guest and delivered a keynote address. Mr. E.P Rao, Group Captain, of India Air Force Thambaram, Mr. A.R Jayakumar, Group Captain (Retd), Regional Director of National Service Scheme Mr. S. Sayeeram, Deputy Director of NYKS Mr. Samapathkumar, Ward Councillor Thirumathi. Subhashni Durai, spoke on the occasion, Saplings were planted in the premises of youth hostels & serving and retired air force officers were felicitated at the function by offering them a shawl.

In Trichy Srimati Indira Gandhi College's NSS Unit organised an event of pledge administering as part of the "Meri Mati Mera Desh” campaign.

In Pudukkottai NYKS in association with Punidha adaikkala annai Ilaignar narpani mandram conducted a tree saplings plantation programme at Therku chettiyapatti. Panch Pran pledge was administered. Ex-servicemen from Sainik welfare board Pudukkottai also participated in the programme.
