Mother Teresa Women's University observed Gandhiji's Loincloth Revolution Day

Mother Teresa Women's University, Madurai Campus, observed Gandhiji's Loincloth Revolution Day, themed "Simple Lifestyle - Noble Way of Life'' with great enthusiasm on 22.09.2023. All students and faculty members wore exclusively cotton/ khadi clothing to observe the significance of the day. 

The personal life of Gandhi is an inspiration to many youngsters. In order to celebrate the Loincloth Revolution day the programme begun with the warm welcome address extended by Dr.A.Rajalakshmi, Assistant Professor, Department of English.  

Dr. M. Pushpa Rani, Director, presided over than function. In her presidential address she highlighted on “Simple Lifestyle - Noble Way of Life”. Her inspiring philosophy and motivational quotes of Mahatma Gandhi gives an opportunity to recall and learn best way to live life. Gandhiji vigorously decided to abandon his elaborate apparel to a simple dhoti and shawl by seeing the poor. He made this decision in Madurai on September 22, 1921 changed not just his identity but also the history. 

In connection to this, students have participated in the various events like Elocution, Singing, Essay Writing and Dance. In addition they have performed a skit on the theme, “Simplicity: Gandhiji's Path to Truth, Harmony, and Change”. Dr. Geethanjali, Department of Food and Nutrition proposed the vote of thanks for this programme. 

The celebration culminated by fostering a spirit of unity and reflecting upon Gandhiji's thoughts. More than 400 students and staff members have participated in the programme.
