Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Limited (TMB) and United India Insurance Company Ltd, jointly conducted the General Insurance claim settlement camp exclusively for the customers of TMB at Bank’s Regional Office at Thoothukudi on 29.12.2023.
Shri. S. Krishnan, MD & CEO, Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Limited (TMB) said, “Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli districts have been devasted due to the recent cyclone and people in these districts have been badly impacted which has resulted in loosing their belongings. The damages occurred to the households and business community has been so high that requires immediate relief for them to resume their normal life. At this juncture, we felt the immediate need to conduct an Insurance claim settlement camp exclusively for our customers and as such this oneday camp is being conducted today with the help of our General insurance partner, M/s.United India Insurance Company Ltd.,
Stock and motor vehicle claims for around 150 customers of our bank affected in the flood have been settled so far. Today’s camp is conducted exclusively for the benefit of a large number of customers of our bank in Thoothukudi District. We have made necessary arrangements for wide publicity about the camp through our branches and outdoor display to reach the message to our customers at large. The request for claims submitted by our customers in today’s camp will be processed on the spot and based on the severity of impact and available documents the claims will be processed and settled."
Shri. Panner Selvam, Chief Regional Manager, United India Insurance Co., handed over on the spot settlement of claims for 2 customers at the camp and assured to scrutinize and arrange for settlement of claim requests received from the customers of Tamilnad Mercantile Bank during the day in a time bound manner. Bank has planned to conduct similar type of General Insurance claim settlement camp at Tirunelveli and Tiruchendur within a week period.
Executives and officials from Head Office and Regional Office of TMB and Officials from United India Insurance Co. were also present at the launch event.
MD & CEO during the launch event of the camp, spoke about the importance of spreading awareness about taking insurance coverage for the stocks, machineries, motor vehicles and all other belongings including houses and household articles of general public.
