Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated, laid the foundation stone and dedicated, multiple development projects to the nation worth over Rs 32,000 crore at a public function at the Maulana Azad Stadium, Jammu. The projects relate to several sectors including health, education, rail, road, aviation, petroleum, civic infrastructure, among others.
In a significant step towards upgrading centrally funded higher education institution infrastructure across the country, Prime Minister inaugurated, laid the foundation stone and dedicate several projects’ worth about Rs. 13,375 crore to the nation Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated dedicated three state-of-the-art infrastructure at the Central University of Tamil Nadu on February 20, 2024 (Tuesday). The newly unveiled facilities include the Kailash Satyarthi Academic Building, Godavari Girls Hostel (300-Seater), and Mahanadhi Boys Hostel (300-Seater). The inauguration marks a significant leap forward in enhancing educational and residential amenities, symbolizing the government of India's commitment to enhance education infrastructure across the nation. Prof M Krishnan, Vice-Chancellor and Statutory Officers including Prof R Thirumurugan - Registrar, CA G.R Giridharan - Finance Officer, Prof Sulochana Shekhar - Controller of Examinations and Dr. R Parameshwaran - Librarian were present during the event happening parallelly at Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur.
Constructed at a cost of Rs. 95.20 Crore (Ninety-Five Crore and Twenty Lakh Rupees), these three facilities were made possible through the financial support of the Higher Education Financing Agency (HEFA). The construction work was initiated by Central Public Works Department. The newly inaugurated buildings feature modern facilities such as lifts, Wi-Fi connectivity, and advanced safety measures.
The Kailash Satyarthi Academic Building, constructed at a cost of 31.94 crore with 7092 sq.m accommodates six departments including Department of Music, Department of Statistics and Applied Mathematics, Department of Horticulture, Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, Department of Microbiology and Department of Physical Education and Sports.
The Godavari Girls Hostel 300-seater constructed at a cost of 31.63 crore with 8,117sq.m and Mahanadhi Boys Hostel 300-seater constructed at a cost of 31.63 crore with 8,117 sq.m, offers a conducive living environment for students. These modern facilities contribute to the holistic development of students at the Central University of Tamil Nadu.
The event was attended by students, faculty, staff and residents from villages near Central University of Tamil Nadu.
