NIT Tiruchirappalli inaugurates Centre for CAMP for Cauvery river basin

National River Conservation Directorate (NRCD), D/o Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Sakthi, GoI and Centre of Ganga (cGanga), IIT Kanpur have initiated studies for preparing River Basin Management plans for major Indian rivers, namely, Mahanadi, Naramada, Godavari, Krishna, Cauvery and Periyar.


On February 28, 2024 in a ceremony held in Delhi, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed between the Consortium of Institutes (IISC Bangalore and NIT Trichy), IIT Kanpur (Coordinating Institute) and National River Conservation Directorate, Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, GoI  In this regard, cCAUVERY, Centre for Condition Assessment and Management Plan (CAMP) for Cauvery river basin was inaugurated on 26-03-2024 at Department of Civil Engineering, NIT Tiruchirappalli, by Prof. Vinod Tare, Founding Head, cGanga & Emeritus Professor, IIT Kanpur, in the presence of Dr. (Mrs.) G. Aghila, Director, NIT Tiruchirappalli along with team members from NIT Tiruchirappalli and IISC Bangalore.
