Women's Day Celebration 2024 at Mother Teresa University

Mother Teresa Women’s University Research and Extension Centre, Madurai has organised Women’s Day Celebration with the campaign theme for this year is “Inspire Inclusion” and the overarching theme is “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress”, which emphasises the importance of creating an inclusive society and investing in women’s empowerment on 07.03.2024. 

Dr. M. Pushpa Rani, Director of Mother Teresa Women’s University, Madurai Campus, commenced the celebrations with the Thematic Address. In her address she insisted that investing in women is not just a moral imperative, but a strategic obligation and her warm welcome address sets the tone for the day’s proceedings, encapsulating the essence of the theme "Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress" and inspiring all attendees to actively engage in the celebration of women's achievements and the advocacy for gender equality. 

As the chief guest, Mrs. M. Jeya, Deputy Director of the District Industries Centre (DIC), Madurai, graced the occasion. She delivered the chief guest address, emphasising the importance of investing in women to accelerate societal progress and highlighting the critical role women play in various spheres of life. Mr.Mohammad Farook, Survey and Statistical Inspector, District Industries Centre (DIC) in Madurai has delivered a special address on the significance of women and their tremendous contribution to society.  

In this connection, various competitions have been held including Essay Writing, Art from Waste, Hair Do, Group Singing, Cooking Without Fire, Rangoli and Just a Minute. The winners of these competitions were honoured with prizes and certificates. The students demonstrated their talents through cultural performances, encompassing music, dance, and drama, which highlighted the strength and perseverance of women. These performances added vibrancy to the event and conveyed powerful messages of women empowerment and solidarity. Women’s Day celebration at Mother Teresa Women's University was a resounding success, bringing together students, faculty, and members of the community to honour the achievements of women and advocate for gender equality. Around 400 students along with faculty members have participated in the programme. The celebration reaffirmed the university's commitment to empowering women and fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.
