The Traffic Department and the Law & Order Department, Government of Tamil Nadu received 250 sunglasses from Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital as a part of the outreach programme. The Hospital presented sunglasses to the traffic police to protect themselves from persistent sun exposure this summer.

*Dr. Isaac Abraham Roy, Head - Clinical Services, Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital Tiruvannamalai,* in his comments said “Eyes are the most sensitive sensory organ of our body and are equally prone to sun damage as our skin. Prolonged exposure to UV radiation leads to cataracts, macular degeneration, and sunburned eyes. The glare from the sun can even cause eye strain and headaches as the police officers are outdoors throughout the day. A good pair of sunglasses reduces the impact of UV damage to our eyes, prevent glare, and protects the sensitive areas around the eyes. Our gesture underlines our commitment to support the local authorities, as they constantly strive to ensure safety and well-being of the community.”

In his comments, *Dr. Karthikeyan IPS, Superintendent of Police, Tiruvannamalai,* Chief Guest of the event applauded the efforts undertaken by the Hospital said, “I am delighted to be a part of this event as we get to witness the Hospital’s commitment towards supporting the local authorities. Apart from being a fashion statement, sunglasses when picked right provide maximum protection to our eyes from harsh sunrays. I congratulate Dr Agarwals for this thoughtful gesture of taking a step forward to provide a little respite to our traffic police and lawmen.”
