Maximum Nurses Donated Hair for Cancer Patients

International Nurses Day is celebrated every year on May 12th, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. It serves as a global recognition of the contributions made by nurses to the health and well-being of individuals and communities worldwide. Established by the International Council of Nurses (ICN), International Nurses Day provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the vital role nurses play in healthcare and to advocate for nursing excellence and professional development.

The record for the maximum nurses donating hair for cancer patients was set by the Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI) - Tamil Nadu Branch in commemoration of International Nurses' Day 2024.The TNAI-TN branch under the leadership of Dr. S. Anigrace Kalaimathi, President, and the Executive members are very vibrant in planning and implementing various activities in the state of Tamil Nadu for the benefit of the nurses and nursing students. One of these activities was the creation of an Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records entitled “Maximum number of nurses donated hair for cancer patients”, from various zones.
