To create awareness on “Usage of TNAU Water Soluble Fertilizers” a “Stakeholders Meet on TNAU-Water Soluble Fertilizers” was organized by the Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Directorate of Natural Resource Management, TNAU on 24.06.2024. The meeting was presided over by Dr.V.Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor, TNAU, Coimbatore.
Dr.P.Balasubramaniam, Director welcomed the gathering and Dr.D.Selvi, Professor and Head, SS&AC delivered the introductory remarks on Establishment of Water Soluble Fertilizer Production unit at TNAU, under NADP project funded by The Government of Tamil Nadu. Dr.P.Balasubramaniam, Director (ODL) requested the input dealers to promote the use of TNAU Water Soluble Fertilizers. He, highlighted the usage of Water-Soluble Fertilizers in all crops and establishment of the Water-Soluble Fertilizers production unit as a profitable one. The efficiency of Water-Soluble Fertilizers is high and enhances the productivity of the crops which inturn increases the income of the farmers. He requested the input dealers to promote the use of Water-Soluble Fertilizers, by the farmer.
Dr.V.Geethalakshmi, Vice – Chancellor, TNAU in her presidential address highlighted out the status of Tamil Nadu Soils including deficiency status of major nutrients and micronutrients, fertilizers production and consumption at World, National and Tamil Nadu level, Need for usage of WSF, Importance and advantages of WSF and the efforts made by TNAU for establishing the production units at AC&RI, Coimbatore, Madurai and Killikulam. Further requested all the stakeholders in promoting the TNAU Water Soluble Fertilizers in collaboration with TNAU for the benefit of the farming community in Tamil Nadu. Vice-Chancellor also released the leaflets of Water-Soluble Fertilizers and Brochures of the Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry.
Dr.M.R.Backiyavathy Professor (SS&AC) and PI (WSF Unit) proposed the Vote of thanks. Later a visit to TNAU – Water Soluble Fertilizers production unit at TNAU, Coimbatore was arranged and nearly 50 stakeholders were benefitted by this programme.
