Hon'ble Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Education and Development of Northeastern Region, Govt. of India, Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, visited the Port Blair Campus. The Center Head welcomed him at the entrance and all faculty with bouquets. Subsequently, the minister and other officers were taken to the conference room at the Marine Biology building, where all the students were assembled for an interaction meeting.
Further, a formal welcome address to the Hon'ble Minister and briefed the Pondicherry University Campus activities and other information by the Center Head, Prof. P.M. Mohan. Honored the Minister in a traditional way with a shawl and memento. Then, requested the minister to enlighten the gathering.
The Hon'ble Minister stated that students from all over India presented on this campus for their education; it looks like a Mini India. It is the best example of how India existed in terms of diversity and unity. In addition, the Hon’ble Minister gave a solid note to the student community to emerge as a robust scientific community and lead the nation under Vikshit Bharat to make a strong and united India.
Further, the Minister showed interest and visited the infrastructure facilities, especially laboratories. He appreciated marine biology and disaster management department labs and had in-depth scientific interactions with specific subject faculties and research scholars.
The program ended with “High Tea” served to the Minister & other officials with faculties and self-service to the students in the library hall.
