The 78thIndependence Day was celebrated in a grand manner in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore on August 15, 2024. Honorary Colonel Dr. V. Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) hoisted the national flag and delivered the Independence Day address by recalling of sacrifices of freedom fighters.
She emphasised the slogan of 78th Independence Day Viksit Bharat – symbolising the government vision of transforming India into a developed nation by strategic investment in Health Care, Education, Economic Diversification and Effective Governance.
TNAU has contributed to achieve food and nutritional security in India by releasing 929 crop varieties, 1500 technologies and 150 machineries in the past 50 years. In 2024 alone TNAU has released 24 new crop varieties, 7 farm technologies, 5 farm machineries and tools.
She requested students and staff members to take pledge for taking TNAU as number one SAU, and India as a developed nation by 2047 by taking pride of our heritage, fulfilling duties and serving for unity.
University Officers, Heads of Departments, Scientists, School students and teachers and Staff of TNAU participated in the celebration.
