The Council for Leather Exports (CLE), Sponsored by Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India is organizing a "Soles for Souls" Marathon - 'Run for Drug-Free Society' on Sunday, the 29th September 2024 in Chennai, with a primary focus on raising awareness about drug free society besides promoting the brand image of footwear and leather industry. This landmark event, which will be held at Island Grounds, aims to bring together over 5,000 participants, including runners, students, youth, NGOs, workers and corporates, to support a noble cause that affects us all.

The marathon will feature three categories namely;
3 km-for 8 years and above
5 km-for 12 years and above
10 km-for 16 years and above
Each participant will be provided a T-shirt, Finisher Medal, E- Certificate and Race Day Hydration and breakfast.
The marathon is expected to not only raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and its impact on society, but also promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage physical activity among runner and also foster a sense of community and camaraderie among participants.
The pre-event expo will be held on September 28, 2024 at Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI), Adyar wherein all participants and stakeholders will be briefed about the minute to minute programme.
Shri R. Selvam, Executive Director, Council for Leather Exports said "It is important to have healthier minds and physique so as to achieve our objective of becoming a developed nation by 2047. The Soles for Souls marathon is a small step in promoting healthier lifestyle. I am sure that this marathon will be a big motivator for the participants and will achieve its objective of promoting drug free society".
