Swachtha Hi Sewa ICOP by CBC at Devarayeneri village

Central Bureau of Communication, Tiruchirappalli under Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting organized integrated communication Outreach Programme ICOP on Swachtha Hi Sewa at Devarayeneri village Tirunedungulam Tiruchirappalli on September 26.  The integrated communication outreach programme was organized in coordination with Tiruverumbur Panchayat union and All India Radio Tiruchirappali .


Field Publicity Officer CBC Tiruchirappalli Shri K Devi Padmanabhan in his keynote address said Swachtha Hi Sewa is being celebrated from September 15 to October 2 to create awareness about cleanliness. He said that Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on October 2, 2014 to make India open defecation free nation. Under SBM more than 11.6 crore individual household toilets were built and now most of the villages are ODF free with solid and liquid waste management facility. He urged people to segregate biodegradable and nonbiodegradable wastes while giving it to sanitary workers. This will help the tuymai kavalars sanitary workers to dispose the waste without affecting environment. Swachtha Abhiyan is a people’s movement and only if awareness about benefits of cleanliness reach public we can reach total open defecation free nation status. He stressed about keeping surroundings clean to prevent breeding of mosquitoes spreading dengue fever. One time use plastic usage should be avoided to protect environment and safeguard ground water. 


Tirunedungulam Panchayat president Smt Sreenidhi Sathiskumar in her presidential address spoke about importance of cleanliness. Shri Sathiskumar spoke about importance of utilizing government schemes for the benefit of public.


Akashwani Tiruchirappalli Newsreader Smt Shanti Ramesh in her special address said that government is implementing Swachh Bharat Abhiyan scheme for the benefit of people. She said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in his Independence Day address in 2014 announced Swachh Bharat Abhiyan scheme. This was implemented on October 2 in 2014 and has become people’s movement. She said that Akashwani Tiruchirapalli is creating awareness about Swachatha hi Sewa in news bulletins and special programmes.

In the integrated programme tuymai kavalars sanitary workers were honoured for their yeoman service to keep the village clean. Swactha activity cleanliness drive was conducted in the village as part of Swachtha Hi sewa. Swachtha rally was flagged off by FPO Trichy Shri K Devi Padmanabhan and Panchayat president. Cloth bags were distributed as part of awareness to prevent usage of one time use plastics. Devarayaneri panchayat members Shri Rajendran, Smt Mridula, Tiruverumbur SBM Block coordinator Shri S Sakthivel panchayat secretary Shri Murugesan and others were present. Awareness pamphlets were distributed to public.


Bharathalaya Trichy kalai kuzhu  registered troupe under Song and Drama division conducted awareness programme on Swachtha.
