The Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission, established by the Government of Tamil Nadu under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) department, is branded as StartupTN. Its primary goal is to bolster the state’s startup ecosystem with a strong emphasis on promoting startups and fostering innovation.
StartupTN aims to place Tamil Nadu among the top 20 global startup hubs. It promotes Inclusive Mass Entrepreneurship to support the State's vision of a $1 trillion economy by 2030.
Through partnerships with startups, innovators, investors, institutions, and global stakeholders, StartupTN is establishing Tamil Nadu as a Knowledge Capital and Innovation Hub.
StartupTN is organising ‘Tamil Nadu Startup Thiruvizha 2024’ - Madurai Edition at Tamukkam Convention Centre, Madurai, on September 28 & 29, 2024 (Saturday and Sunday). This two-day annual mega event celebrates Tamil Nadu’s spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship and highlights the efforts taken by the Government of Tamil Nadu to support startups, aspirants, and stakeholders at various stages of growth.
Thiru. Udhayanidhi Stalin, Hon’ble Minister for Youth Welfare, Sports Development, and Special Programme Implementation, will be the Chief Guest at the Valedictory Ceremony on September 29, 2024. Hon’ble Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Thiru. T.M. Anbarasan, will preside over the function. Hon’ble Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registration, Thiru. P. Moorthy, and Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services, Dr. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan are special invitees to the event. Tmt. V. Indirani, Mayor of Madurai Corporation, Thiru. Su. Venkatesan, Member of Parliament for Madurai Lok Sabha Constituency, and G. Thalapathi, Member of Legislative Assembly for Madurai North, will also participate.

Startup Thiruvizha 2024 will feature more than 80 eminent speakers, including leaders from the startup ecosystem, subject matter experts, leaders from the corporate sector, and government officials. An expo with over 150 stalls showcasing startups and a pitching session are among the highlights of this multifaceted celebration. A large number of delegates from Tamil Nadu and the national ecosystem are expected to participate in curated sessions which will include inspiring keynote talks, fireside chats, and panel discussions covering a wide range of topics.
At least 10,000 attendees are expected at the expo, to which the entry is free. Participants can network and draw inspiration from startup founders and other core stakeholders in the Tamil Nadu startup ecosystem. A dedicated space will display 100 innovative D2C food products from Tamil Nadu startups.
Provisions will also be made for one-on-one interactions between startups, investors, and other stakeholders. Another highlight of the expo is the Web 3 (Metaverse) experience pavilion by StartupTN. Startups will provide live demos and showcase their novel products and solutions to expo participants. Concurrently, a series of pitch sessions will allow startups to present their ideas to angel investors and venture capitalists for potential investment.
First Startup Thiruvizha (2023): The inaugural Startup Thiruvizha took place in Coimbatore in August 2023, offering a vibrant showcase of Tamil Nadu's thriving startup ecosystem. The event received an overwhelming response and was a resounding success
