A Workshop titled “Innovative Curriculum Design, Implementation and Assessments” was held on 4 October 2024, jointly organised by the Centre for Human Resource Development (CHRD), the Examinations Office and the Deans of Academic Affairs, Lady Doak College.
The programme commenced with a prayer by Dr. D. Rani Rosaline, Assistant Chaplain, followed by a welcome address by Dr. S. Srii Latha, CHRD Coordinator. Dr. S. Mercy Packiam, Controller of Examinations, introduced the Resource Person and Dr. R. Beulah Jeyashree, Principal and Secretary, gave the introductory remarks on new trends in curriculum design, focusing on experiential learning and future skill requirements that meet the International standards of Higher Education.
Dr. G. Tholkappia Arasu, CEO Quality Assurance – Health Sciences Institutions, Aassaan eduCare Foundation, Chennai, addressed the key components of curriculum innovation, emphasizing the integration of industry-relevant content and skill-based education. The speaker emphasised the challenges in the traditional curricular frameworks and advocated for a more flexible learner-centered approach. He stressed the significance of fostering higher-order thinking skills while also promoting a global perspective.
He enlightened the target group by sharing his boundless knowledge on blended learning models and digital tools for curriculum delivery. 45 Faculty members across all disciplines participated and were encouraged to adopt diverse assessment strategies to gauge student learning more effectively. The Participants expressed a renewed sense of motivation to apply the insights gained from the workshop in their content delivery and assessments.
Dr. M. Praveena Kirubabai, Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs (Sciences), delivered the vote of thanks, expressing her heartfelt appreciation to everyone involved in planning, organizing, and execution of the workshop.
