Bureau of Indian Standards is a statutory body functioning under the aegis of Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India. It operates various schemes like Product Certification (ISI mark), Management Systems Certification, Hall Marking of Gold and Silver Jewellery/Artefacts and Laboratory Services for the benefit of the industry and in turn aiming at consumer protection.
Every year during October the members of the ISO, IEC and ITU join together to celebrate the World Standards Day, which is a means of paying tribute to the collaborative efforts of the thousands of experts worldwide, who develop the voluntary technical agreements that are published as international standards. Accordingly, BIS Chennai had conducted Manak Mahotsav World Standards Day Programmes for various stakeholders during Oct 2024.
For the First of its kind, BIS-Chennai Branch Office organized Manak Mahotsav - Quality Awareness with Public through Cultural Activities and Games at URBAN SQUARE – Kathipara Today Evening [ 09 November 2024, Saturday at 06:00 PM] . The Entire Programme was conducted during 06-09 PM.
The Various activities included awareness on BIS activities by BIS Officials among the public. Students of Sairam Engineering College, Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering etc performed Flash Mob, Folk Dance, Semi Classical Dance, Music Band Performances.
In addition to keep the public engaged, informative and Gaming Stalls, Selfie Corner, Photo Booth were also arranged at venue during the event.
