In an age of rapid technological advancement and growing societal complexities, the imperative for governments to adopt innovative solutions for improved governance is more pressing than ever.
Addressing this critical need, O.P. Jindal Global University, in collaboration with Vinayaka Mission’s School of Economics and Public Policy (VSEP), organized a thought-provoking program on the theme, “Making Governments Govern Better: Integrating Public Policy, Regulation & Technology.” The event was hosted at Welcome Hotels , ITC, Chennai on the 13th of November 2024 from 10 am to 1 pm The discussions were inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, Founder and Vice Chancellor of O.P. Jindal Global University.

An impressive lineup of speakers included Prof. Jeffrey Liebman from the Harvard Kennedy School, Dr. A. Francis Julian, Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of India, Mr. Jairaj K., IAS and Former Additional Chief Secretary for the Government of Karnataka, and Prof. M. Suresh Babu, Director of the Madras Institute of Development Studies. The delegation from VSEP featured Prof. Debdulal Thakur, Dean of the School of Economics and Public Policy, and Prof. Ananth Padmanabhan, Dean of Vinayaka Mission’s Law School.
Additional notable participants were Ms. Srimathi Shivashanker, Corporate Vice President for EdTech at HCL Technologies, Prof. R. Sudarshan, Dean of Jindal School of Government and Public Policy, and Prof. R.K. Raghavan, IPS, former Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation, among others. In a testament to the program’s impact, prominent academic institutions from Chennai, including Women’s Christian College, Loyola College, Madras Christian College, and Stella Maris College, actively participated, underscoring the growing interest in collaborative learning and thought leadership in public governance.
