TIPS school students visit TNAU's Biotechnology Department

A group of 65 enthusiastic Grade X students from The Indian Public School (TIPS), Coimbatore, accompanied by their staff, had the unique opportunity to visit the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University on 20.12.24. The visit, organized as part of their educational curriculum, aimed to introduce the students to advanced agricultural practices and cutting-edge research.


The students explored the Department of Plant Biotechnology, where they were exposed to the latest developments in agricultural research and biotechnology. Faculty members of the Department of Plant Biotechnology, Dr. B. Rajagopal explained the process of plant tissue culture, Dr. M. Sudha demonstrated the use and power of advanced equipments like the GC-MS. Initially Dr. E. Kokiladevi, Professor and Head provided engaging explanations about ongoing projects, giving the students a glimpse into the innovative use of science in solving real-world agricultural challenges.


The event, facilitated by Dr. N. Senthil, Director (CPMB&B), was well-coordinated, with students gaining hands-on insights into agricultural biotechnology. This initiative highlights the importance of bridging academic learning with practical exposure to inspire the next generation of scientists and innovators.
