The President of the Tamil Nadu Appalam Vadagam Mor Vathal Association, K. Thirumurugan, has urged both the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu to take immediate steps to resolve the LPG cylinder shortage prevailing in Tamil Nadu.

In a statement he released, Thirumurugan said that the shortage of LPG cylinders in several parts of Tamil Nadu over the past few weeks has caused significant hardship to the public as well as small and medium-scale industries. Even after booking cylinders, people are reportedly forced to wait for several days to receive them.

He pointed out that the shortage has severely affected several sectors, including:

Hotels and restaurants

Tea shops and small food preparation units

Sweet and bakery production businesses

Catering and wedding food services

Women engaged in home-based self-employment activities

Thousands of workers and families depend on these industries for their livelihood. Due to the unavailability of LPG cylinders, there is a risk that production activities may come to a halt in many places. He warned that if the shortage continues in the coming days, not only small industries but also the entire food supply sector could face serious disruption.

Thirumurugan therefore appealed to the Central Government to increase LPG supply immediately to eliminate the shortage, and requested the Tamil Nadu Government to closely monitor distribution at the district level and ensure adequate cylinder availability for both the public and small industries.

He stressed that urgent measures must be taken to protect small businesses and the livelihoods of thousands of families, and called upon the government to find an immediate solution to this issue that affects the daily lives of the people.
