Two days of hands-on workshop on “Aeromodelling and Drone Technology” has been organized for the students of B. Tech. (Agricultural Engineering) by the Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore under the School of Finishing and Grooming held during 21.12.2024 and 22.12.2024.
Inaugurating the workshop, Dr. A. Raviraj, Dean (Agricultural Engineering), emphasized the growing importance of skill development in the field of agricultural engineering. He highlighted that drone technology is a game changer for modern agriculture, opening avenues for applications in precision farming, crop monitoring, spraying, and other agricultural operations. He also encouraged students to explore drone technology as a potential career pathway, from obtaining a Remote Pilot License to launching startups in this emerging field.
The workshop featured a comprehensive curriculum designed to provide students with practical exposure. Mr. K. Rajkumar, Senior Aeromodelling Instructor and CMD of RC Hobby India, Coimbatore, guided the participants through the sessions. Students engaged in hands-on activities, including assembling drone working models, understanding the functionality of different subsystems, troubleshooting, programming controllers, and experiencing field conditions by flying drones & operating drones in compliance with aviation laws.
The two-day event concluded with enthusiastic participation from the students, who expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge of drone technology and aeromodelling. The initiative aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications, preparing the students to face real-world challenges in the field of agricultural engineering.
