The government of Tamil Nadu has declared the birthday of Muththamizh Arignar Dr Kalaignar, as the Tamil Classical Language Day. To mark this occasion, a meeting was held at the Gandhi Museum in Madurai. The museum's secretary, Mr. Nanda Rao, while presiding over the function, highlighted the uniqueness of the Tamil language and the relationship between Mahatma Gandhi and Tamils.

The special guest at the event was Dr. Abdul Kadir, former principal and professor of waqf board college. Speaking on the topic "Kalaignar's Linguistic Prowess," he stated that the Tamil language serves as a platform for teaching discipline, valour, spirituality, and life ethics. He emphasized that if a language perishes, the race that speaks it will also perish. Therefore, he asserted, a nation's language acts as a shield protecting the race that speaks it. Prof. Abdul Kadir also recalled Kalaignar's immense love for Tamil, his commentary on the Thirukkural, and his efforts to make the greatness of Tamil known worldwide, recounting Kalaignar's significant contributions to the Tamil language. He urged the students to practice speaking Tamil without mixing it with other languages and to strive to create appropriate Tamil words for new scientific discoveries.

Earlier, Ms. Apoorva, a student from Lady Doak College, delivered the welcome address. Mr. Natarajan, the museum's education officer, stated that Kalaignar's writing and hard work transformed him into a leader revered by the Tamil world. The Research officer Dr. Devadas spoke about Kalaignar Karunanidhi's multifaceted personality, his emphasis on Tamil, and his adherence to Gandhian principles, urging college students to read Kalaignar's works. Mr. Kanagaraj, a retired staff from Madurai College, mentioned that Kalaignar Karunanidhi was instrumental in respectfully referring to transgender individuals as "Thirunangai."

The event was attended by Jayakumar, a museum staff member, and students from various colleges including Lady Doak College, Fatima College, Waqf Board College, and Yadava College. At the end of the program, Kapilan, a student from Yadava College, proposed the vote of thanks.
