Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, set two Guinness World Records on International Yoga Day — the “Largest Yoga Lesson at a Single Venue” and “Most People Performing Surya Namaskar Simultaneously.”
The event, organised by the Ayush Department, saw over 3 lakh people perform the Common Yoga Protocol along Visakhapatnam’s 30 km Beach Road.
More than 25,000 participants simultaneously performed Surya Namaskar, demonstrating perfect synchronisation.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi led the celebrations, highlighting yoga’s power to transform lives and promote health.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu was instrumental in the event’s vision and execution.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Health Minister Dr. AS Krishna, and senior Ayush officials supported the coordination.
The record attempts were managed by Shri Nischal Barot, Guinness World Records consultant and founder of Kemi’s Connect.
Mr. Barot praised the event’s scale and called Visakhapatnam the future “Eastern Capital of Yoga.”
