Mera Yuva Bharat under Union Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports in coordination with National Service Scheme NSS organised Workshop on Government Flagship Schemes at Bishop Heber College Tiruchirapalli on Tuesday.
Dr I Paul Ajithkumar, NSS Programme Officer Bishop Heber College welcomed the gathering. Dr J Princy Merlin, Principal, Bishop Heber College in her presidential address urged students to utilise information and knowledge to progress in life. She asked them to know about government schemes and use it for development. Dr V Anand Gideon, Dean of Extension Activities, Bishop Heber College said students of the college are doing many social welfare activities for the betterment of society. He pointed out that NSS students are visiting villages and interacting with people for their welfare. Shri D Prasad, Regional Manager, Tamil Nadu Grama Bank in his inaugural address spoke about various government schemes implemented through banks. He urged students to use skill development to get jobs and progress.
Shri K Devi Padmanabhan, Assistant Director, Central Bureau of Communication, Govt of India in his special address said that central government is implementing various welfare schemes for the betterment of people. He pointed out that Ministry of Finance has started nationwide saturation campaign, from 1st July to 30th September to create awareness about flagship schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana , Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana , Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana , and Atal Pension Yojana (APY). He pointed out that Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) launched on 23rd September 2018 is the largest health assurance scheme in the world which aims at providing a health cover of ₹ 5,00,000 per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization. He spoke about MGNREGA which has given livelihood to rural women, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi for farmers, PM Kaushal scheme for skill training. He stressed importance of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan which will help prevent spread od diseases and Jal Jeevan Mission ensuring potable water.
Shri T Ramesh, GM, District Industrial Centre spoke about various schemes and services for MSMEs including project identification, technical guidance.
Shri D Tamilenian, Lead Bank Officer, Trichy spoke about banking sector and basic information about banking system. He urged students to be cautious about fraudulent SMS alerts connected with banks.
Shri Arul Rabert J Gender Specialist, District Social welfare and Women Empowerment department spoke about welfare schemes for women. Shri S Arunkumar Field Publicity Assistant CBC Trichy attended the programme. Shri R Maheswaran Accts Programme Asst Mera Yuva Bharat rendered key note address and Shri Revanth rendered vote of thanks. Certificates were given to participants.
