The 8th Unit Approval Committee (UAC) meeting was held at the MEPZ Administrative Office, Tambaram on 08 August 2025. The meeting was chaired by Thiru Alex Paul Menon, IAS, Development Commissioner, with participation from key officials of Customs, DGFT, and State Government.
A highlight of the meeting was the approval for M/s. BNT Marine Crafts (India) Pvt. Ltd. to convert its Domestic Tariff Area unit in Abishegakuppam, Puducherry, into a 100% Export Oriented Unit (EOU)—the first-ever marine sector EOU under MEPZ’s jurisdiction. The unit will manufacture semi-submarines, tourist, commercial, and premium vessels, with a projected investment of ₹2.25 crore, expected NFEE of ₹31.52 crore over five years, and 77 new jobs.
Congratulating the company, Thiru. Alex Paul Menon said, “This approval diversifies our sectoral portfolio and enhances India’s marine technology and tourism infrastructure. We will continue to support innovative ventures that drive exports, skill development, and job creation.”

Aptiv Connection Systems India Pvt. Ltd. has committed ₹10 lakh towards scholarships for 10 deserving girl students.
MEPZ SEZ has attracted ₹155 crore in investments FY 2025–26, and generated 6,666 jobs, reaffirming its role as a catalyst for industrial growth and inclusive development in this region.
