The Orientation Programme for the 1st semester UG students was held in SVPISTM Auditorium on August, 2025. The event started with the presidential address by the Director of the college, Dr. P. Alli Rani, in which she reminded the students of the significance of the first day of stepping onto a new phase in life. She also touched upon the various aspects of the textile industry in order to give an outline of the 2nd biggest sector after agriculture. She stressed that the textile sector was a varied one, which, offered diversified career options to the students. She also asked the parents, who had also accompanied their wards for this orientation session, to be supportive towards fulfilling the dreams of their children.
Smt. Roop Rashi Mahapatra, Chief Executive Officer of Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India, welcomed the students by her captivating speech, which laid its focus on the importance of working hard to reach the goal. She asked the students to look at the textile sector with a broad spectrum in order to be able to set the trajectory of learning to a higher level. She expressed her views regarding the efforts taken by the government to bring in synergies and increase value return to farmers. Her speech also focused on the need for developing the capacity for delving into different sorts of varieties.
Shri Kantilal G Vora, , Founder of Sheetal Cottex India Pvt. Ltd., the Guest of Honour for this orientation session, started his speech with a reminiscence of how he came down to Coimbatore in 1971 by chasing his dreams. He also shared his invaluable experiences of being attached with this industry spanning for more than five decades. He reminded the students that they have embarked on a new journey, and must contribute to development of the Khadi industry with their knowledge. He stressed on that fact that students must keep themselves open to learning the new processes to update themselves with latest developments.
