Bureau of Indian Standards, BIS, the National Standards Body of India, Ministry of Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution, Government of India celebrated the World Standards Day as Standards Carnival with students and faculties of PSNA College of Engineering and Technology (PSNACET), Dindigul on 14.10.2025. The theme for World Standards Day (WSD) 2025, continuing the multi-year campaign "Shared Vision for a Better World" focuses on Sustainable Development Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, which calls for stronger global partnerships for sustainable development.
On the occasion of WSD 2025, BIS Coimbatore organized series of daylong activities and events at PSNACET, Dindigul. During the Day long activities, 30 stalls were put up to display of quality products in order to create awareness amongst consumers. 20 BIS licensees participated in the Standards Carnival and displayed their products and explained the science behind their making and testing. The students also displayed their science projects and posters at the stalls. Fun games & competitions were organized for students, faculties and parents of students.
The exhibition stalls were inaugurated by Smt G. Bhavani, Senior Director and Head, BIS Coimbatore and Rtn. R.S.K.Raghuram, Pro-chairman, PSNACET. The Inauguration of Student Chapters was conducted at SRL Hall, PSNACET Dindigul on 14.10.2025. The inauguration ceremony initiated with a welcome address by Dr. K Muralidharan, HoD, Mechanical Dept, PSNACET.
Smt. G. Bhavani, Scientist-F / Senior Director & Head, BIS Coimbatore, presented the Inaugural Address and delivered about the importance of theme of WSD 2025 and informed that the Students’ Chapter would provide structured opportunities for students to engage with real-world standardisation challenges. Rtn. R.S.K.Raghuram, Pro-Chairman, PSNACET presented the Presidential address and expressed that partnering with BIS would enrich academic pursuits at PSNACET.
The collaboration between BIS and PSNACET is guided by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed earlier on 27 September 2023. PSNACET Dindigul has created 10 Student Chapters within various departments like Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Bio-Medical Engineering, Computer Science and Business Systems, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and CSE - Cyber Security. Smt. G. Bhavani, Scientist-F / Senior Director & Head, BIS Coimbatore inaugurated these student chapters by felicitating the mentors of Student Chapters with a Memento.
Before the day long programme various competitions like Poster designing, Memes, Photography & Science projects on the topics of Importance of Indian Standards were conducted between 07 to 13 October 2025 wherein more than 500 students participated. The winners of competitions were rewarded with prizes & certificates. BIS Certified Industries were felicitated during the program. The program ended with the valedictory address by Dr. J. Gowthaman, Assistant Professor/ Mechanical Dept, BIS Nodal Officer, PSNACET, Dindigul.
The students, faculties and parents were made aware of BIS CARE App and they were encouraged to download this app to create awareness on the importance of quality and standards emphasizing the significance of ISI mark, Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) mark, BIS Hallmark in upholding safety and quality for consumer goods. More than 5000 students including parents, 500 faculties participated in the day long program and made the event a big success. Consumers are requested to download the BIS Care App which is available in Google Playstore and App Store.
