This initiative aims to provide comprehensive medical insurance coverage to sportspersons across the state, ensuring their health and well-being are protected as they train and compete at various levels.

The 2025 edition of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Trophy Games drew to a spectacular close on the final day (Day 13), with Chennai district reinforcing its dominance in state sports by topping the overall medal tally for the third consecutive year. The final day saw Chennai and Chengalpattu districts sign off their campaigns with a gold medal each, as the curtains came down on Tamil Nadu’s premier state-level sports tournament.

Chennai district emerged as the undisputed champions, clinching a record-breaking 109 gold, 90 silver, and 82 bronze medals, totalling an astounding 281 medals—the highest ever recorded in the history of the CM Trophy Games.

In a dramatic finish, Chengalpattu district leapfrogged Coimbatore on the final 2 days to claim the second position. This year’s edition witnessed unprecedented participation, with over 16.28 lakh athletes registering across five major categories: school students, college youth, general public, government employees, and persons with disabilities.

A groundbreaking highlight of the 2025 Games was the inclusion of Esports as an official medal event, making Tamil Nadu the first state in India to do so. The debut drew an impressive 5,000+ competitors, signalling a new era in the state’s sporting inclusivity.

With a total prize purse of ₹37 crores, the tournament also set new benchmarks in incentivizing athletic achievement and promoting a vibrant sports culture from grassroots to elite levels. As the final whistle blew, the message was clear: Tamil Nadu is on the move—championing not just sports, but also unity, opportunity, and excellence across every district.
