Skyscanner yesterday launched its Travel Trends 2026 Report at Nehru Place, New Delhi, unveiling seven key travel trends shaping the year ahead. From literary escapes and grocery aisle discoveries to beauty-focused itineraries and unique stays, the report highlights how Indian travellers are increasingly designing trips that reflect their passions and lifestyles. Suryakumar Yadav, Skyscanner’s first brand ambassador in India, graced the launch, emphasizing the importance of personalised and memorable travel experiences.
The report shows that 59% of Indian travellers plan to travel more in 2026, with many willing to spend the same or more on flights, accommodation, and car hire. Key factors influencing travel decisions include food, cost, accommodation, and visa requirements. Neel Ghose, Skyscanner Travel Trends and Destinations Expert, noted that Indians are seeking authentic, quieter alternatives to crowded tourist spots, increasingly leveraging digital tools and AI to plan highly personalised trips that reflect individual tastes and interests.
Highlighting the trends, destinations like Jorhat, India and Jaffna, Sri Lanka are leading the charts among trending spots, while Tirupati, India and Langkawi, Malaysia rank top for best-value travel. The report also emphasises growing interest in wellness, family travel, mountain escapes, and literary-inspired itineraries, reflecting a shift toward deeper, meaningful, and hyper-personalised travel experiences in 2026.
