SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) participated in the 5th EU–India Education Summit 2025, organised by the Council of EU Chambers of Commerce in India. The summit was held under the theme “Learning Without Borders – Partnerships for Education, Employability & Mobility” and brought together representatives from European diplomatic missions, Indian and international universities, industry leaders, government authorities, and experts from the global skills and mobility ecosystem.
Key dignitaries included Mr. Robin Banerjee, Senior Vice President; Dr. Renu Shome, Director General; Dr. Uday Salunkhe, Chairman, Education Committee and Group Director, WeSchool; and Dr. N. Venkata Sastry, Co-Chairman and Director, Career Centre, SRMIST. Speakers reiterated the growing relevance of EU–India cooperation in talent development, research collaboration, and mobility-driven education frameworks.
Discussions addressed the changing landscape of higher education, international mobility pathways, new-age skills, the role of language learning, affordability of global education opportunities, and emerging industry trends such as companies sponsoring higher education abroad. Emphasis was placed on joint degree models, fellowships, exchange initiatives, and the need for integrated AI-enabled learning systems to enhance academic delivery and institutional efficiency.
Two focused thematic areas shaped the discussions. The first explored diplomatic leadership, institutional partnerships, research collaboration in engineering and emerging domains, and industry-led learning models. The second examined EU mobility policies, demographic workforce needs, curriculum alignment with global standards, state-level support systems for placements and industry linkages, entrepreneurship development, and multilingual competency as an essential element of employability.
The summit also acknowledged Europe’s increasing demand for a highly skilled international workforce and highlighted the need for streamlined policies and strategic frameworks to enable equitable access to global education and employment opportunities.
SRMIST’s participation, led by Dr. N. Venkata Sastry, reflects the institution’s commitment to expanding meaningful international partnerships and advancing cross-border academic cooperation. The outcomes of the summit align with SRMIST’s ongoing efforts to enhance global exposure, build research-driven collaborations, and widen international pathways for its students and faculty.
The summit reaffirmed a shared vision to strengthen EU–India cooperation in education, skill development, and research—building an inclusive, future-ready and globally connected learning ecosystem.
