TNAU Hosts Hands-on Training on NGS Data Analysis

The Department of Plant Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics, Centre for Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University is organizing a Hands-on Training Programme on Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Data Analysis from 11.11.2025 to 14.11.2025. 


Participants from various institutes across India, including TNAU, Bharathidasan University (Tiruchirappalli), National Agri-Food and Biomanufacturing Institute (Mohali, Punjab), BRIC–National Agri-Food and Biomanufacturing Institute (NABI), Centre for Biotechnology – School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SOA University, Bhubaneswar), Intertek India Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad (Telangana), GEMS Arts and Science College (Kerala), PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, and Bharathiar University are attending this programme. The four-day training programme commenced with an Inaugural Session. 


The welcome address was delivered by Dr. L. Arul, Professor and Head, Department of Plant Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics. In his address, he highlighted the scope of the training programme and the growing importance of NGS technologies. This was followed by a brief introduction of all participants. The Inaugural Address was delivered by Dr.N.Senthil, Director, CPMB&B. 


He emphasized the exponential growth of genomics data and the necessity to learn advanced sequencing technologies and their annotations. Dr. R. Ravikesavan, Director, CPBG, TNAU, felicitated the gathering. In his remarks, he highlighted the significance of NGS techniques, their wide applications, and their impact on modern scientific advancements with real-world examples. 


The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. M. Jayakanthan, Assistant Professor, Department of Plant Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics.
