Marking a major milestone in India’s electric mobility journey, Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced strategic agreements with 13 Charge Point Operators (CPOs) to expand the availability of EV charging stations across the country. The partnerships were formalised in the presence of Managing Director & CEO Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi and Senior Executive Officer – Marketing & Sales, Mr. Partho Banerjee.
The company revealed that it has already set up more than 2,000 exclusive EV charging points across its extensive sales and service network, covering over 1,100 cities. As part of its broader EV roadmap, Maruti Suzuki aims to support the creation of over one lakh charging points nationwide by 2030 in collaboration with dealers and CPO partners.
Mr. Banerjee said the company’s EV ecosystem is designed to ensure convenience and accessibility, with charging points planned at 5–10 kilometre intervals in key locations across India’s top cities. DC fast chargers are also being installed along major highways. Maruti Suzuki has additionally trained a 1.5 lakh–strong EV-ready workforce and upgraded more than 1,500 service workshops to support EV customers.
Central to the ecosystem is the new ‘e for me’ mobile app, which integrates public charging networks and smart home chargers into a single interface. Users can locate charging stations, pay digitally, use a unified ‘Tap N Charge’ card, mirror the app on the car’s infotainment system, and remotely manage home charging.
To showcase the readiness of the network, the company has launched a nationwide ‘e drive’, with e VITARA Born EVs travelling from Gurugram to the country’s farthest corners. Tested across harsh climates, the e VITARA offers a range of 543 km, underscoring Maruti Suzuki’s preparations for India’s EV future.
