On the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8, the Save Soil Movement, an initiative of yogi and mystic Sadhguru, in association with KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, will organise a seminar titled “Home-Based Entrepreneur 2.0” at KPR Engineering College, Arasur, near Coimbatore. The seminar aims to encourage and empower women to become agri-entrepreneurs, with around 2,000 women from across South India expected to participate.

A press meet regarding the event was held at the Coimbatore Press Club. Swami Sreemukha, Project Coordinator of the Save Soil initiative, addressed the media along with representatives from KPR College.

Speaking at the press meet, Swami Sreemukha said the Save Soil Movement was launched to highlight the urgent need to restore declining soil health globally. He pointed out that healthy soil must contain 3% to 6% organic content, whereas in India it is currently below 0.5%, raising concerns about desertification. He noted that the movement seeks to bring policy-level changes and global legal frameworks to address the crisis.

Highlighting initiatives in Tamil Nadu, he said the movement conducts natural farming training programmes and promotes economically viable methods to improve soil health. Through the Cauvery Calling initiative, training in tree-based agriculture is also provided. Over 10,000 farmers have transitioned to natural farming, with 40,081 receiving direct training and 1,15,500 trained online. The initiative has brought 61,000 acres under natural farming, while 54,226 farmers are connected through advisory groups. In 2025 alone, 1.23 crore saplings were planted under Cauvery Calling, with 24,660 farmers adopting tree-based agriculture.

The seminar will feature successful women entrepreneurs from food, healthcare, natural farming and value addition sectors, who will share practical strategies for home-based income generation. Six outstanding women entrepreneurs from Tamil Nadu will be honoured, and an exhibition showcasing value-added agricultural products and modern machinery will also be organised.
