TANRECTA State Unit Gets New Office Bearers

The election process for the State Unit of the Tamil Nadu Retired College Teachers’ Association (TANRECTA) for the term 2026–2028 was conducted as per the schedule announced by the Election Committee. Elections for seven key posts, including President, General Secretary, and Treasurer, were slated to be held on March 24. However, as only one nomination was received for each of the seven positions, the Election Committee officially declared all candidates elected unopposed.


Accordingly, Salem Prof. Madhu has assumed office as State President, Madurai Prof. Periyathambi as General Secretary, and Pudukkottai Prof. Veerappan as Treasurer. The Vice Presidents are Coimbatore Prof. Sundararajan and Nellai Prof. Gandhimathi. The Joint Secretaries are Mayiladuthurai Prof. Karunanidhi and Tambaram Prof. Felicia Rajammal Selvarani. The office-bearers formally assumed their roles during the General Body meeting held at Sangeethas Hotel Hall, Tiruchirappalli.


Earlier, the Election Committee Convener Prof. John Kumar, along with committee members Prof. Abdul Kadir and Prof. Manivannan, presented election certificates to all the newly elected office-bearers. Members who attended the General Body meeting extended their warm greetings to the new team. 


Prof. Madhu and Prof. Periyathambi were specially felicitated by Prof. Abdul Kadir, former Principal of Wakf Board College and Election Committee Member, along with AIFRUCTO Vice-president Prof. Rohini Devi, Madurai unit TANRECTA President Prof. Ramamurthy, Vice-President Prof. Anarkali, Treasurer Prof. Chandran, Joint Secretary Prof. Anandan, General Body members Prof. Rajendran, Prof. Shanmugasundaram, Prof. Perumal, Prof. Anarkali, and former State General Secretary Prof. Manoharan, honored them with traditional shawls.
