A. Narayanan, IRPS assumed charge as the new Principal Chief Personnel Officer of Southern Railway on 08th May, 2026. Prior to this assignment, he held the post of Chief Personnel Officer/Admin of Southern Railway.
An officer of the Indian Railways Personnel Service from the 1998 batch, Shri A. Narayanan began his railway career as Assistant Personnel Officer at Lumding Division of Northeast Frontier Railway in Assam. During his distinguished career, he has held several key assignments including Senior Divisional Personnel Officer at Tinsukia Division of Northeast Frontier Railway, Senior Divisional Personnel Officer at Chennai Division of Southern Railway, Deputy Chief Personnel Officer/Gazetted, Southern Railway, Deputy Chief Personnel Officer/Construction at Egmore, Southern Railway, Member Secretary of Railway Recruitment Board, Chennai and Chief Personnel Officer/Industrial Relations, Southern Railway.
A. Narayanan has also undergone extensive professional and leadership training at the National Academy of Indian Railways, Vadodara and XLRI, Jamshedpur; Syracuse University, USA as part of the MBA Programme of IIM Bangalore; Southwest Jiaotong University, Chengdu, China for high-speed rail training; INSEAD, Singapore; and ICLIF Leadership and Governance Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
He holds a Postgraduate degree in Mathematics and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.
A. Narayanan succeeds Shri K. Harikrishnan, who superannuated in March 2026.
