Appalam Industry and Employment Development
The association strongly requested immediate approval for establishing an Appalam Cluster in Thiruparankundram.
According to the association, the proposed cluster would:
Generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for thousands of women, youth and workers.
Promote the integrated growth of traditional food industries, including appalam, vadagam and mor vathal production.
Facilitate the establishment of NABL-standard testing laboratories, common production centres, storage warehouses and export infrastructure.
Enable local small-scale entrepreneurs to compete in national and international markets.
Transform Thiruparankundram into one of Tamil Nadu’s leading traditional food production hubs, significantly improving the livelihoods of thousands of families.
Improvement of Basic Infrastructure
The memorandum also sought:
Repair and upgrading of damaged roads.
Enhancement of drinking water supply schemes.
Development of underground sewerage and stormwater drainage facilities.
Upgradation of government hospitals.
Expansion of public transport services.
Industrial and Youth Development
The association urged the government to establish:
Skill development training centres for youth.
Support mechanisms for starting small and micro-enterprises.
Additional livelihood and business opportunities for women's self-help groups.
Sports Development
To nurture young talent, the association requested:
Modern sports grounds and infrastructure.
Dedicated coaching and training centres.
Facilities capable of producing athletes who can compete at national and international levels.
Association representatives stated that all the demands were submitted with the objective of promoting public welfare, industrial growth, employment generation and the long-term development of Thiruparankundram and its surrounding areas.
