The meeting was attended by Pavan Kumar G. Giriyappanavar, Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja, Pollachi Sub-Collector Ramakrishnasamy, legislators, and senior officials from various government departments.
During the meeting, the Minister reviewed the progress of ongoing development works and welfare schemes being implemented across departments, including Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, School Education, Municipal Administration, Rural Development, Social Welfare, Public Health, Highways, Revenue, Electricity, Water Resources, and Backward Classes Welfare, among others.
Addressing the officials, Sampath Kumar said that, following the directions of the Chief Minister, district-level review meetings are being conducted across Tamil Nadu to monitor the implementation of government programmes and accelerate development initiatives. He noted that a detailed assessment of projects and future growth plans for Coimbatore district was undertaken during the meeting.
The Minister highlighted several ambitious projects proposed for the district, including the establishment of a special zone for global investments and start-up enterprises, the Western Tamil Nadu Integrated International Park, integrated logistics and export infrastructure, and the restoration of the Noyyal River. He also stressed the need for environmental conservation projects and tourism development initiatives.
Among the key proposals discussed were the creation of skill development and employment centres, industry-oriented training programmes for youth, electric vehicle manufacturing and research facilities, and an Integrated Agricultural Value Addition Park to support processing of coconuts, vegetables, fruits, and floriculture products.
Plans were also outlined for international-standard tourism infrastructure at Valparai and Topslip, a green ring road around Coimbatore city to ease traffic congestion, a Special Economic Zone for women entrepreneurs, and a Coimbatore International Exhibition and Trade Centre to promote investments, trade fairs, and exports.
The Minister instructed officials to prepare detailed project reports and implementation strategies. He further emphasized that all welfare schemes and development programmes must effectively reach the public and directed departments to work in close coordination to ensure the delivery of essential services such as drinking water, roads, and electricity across the district.
