Bajaj Auto Foundation, the CSR arm of Bajaj Auto Limited, has announced a landmark commitment of INR 400 crore over the next decade through the Rupa Rahul Bajaj Scholarship for Women in Engineering (RRBSWE). The initiative aims to empower meritorious women pursuing core engineering disciplines such as Mechanical, Electronics, Robotics, Mechatronics, and allied fields across 40 premier institutions including IITs, NITs, IIITs, and leading universities.
The programme—India’s largest scholarship initiative for women in core engineering—will provide financial support of up to INR 8 lakh per student along with mentorship, leadership development, industry exposure, and access to professional networks. The Foundation also felicitated its first cohort of 506 scholars at its Pune headquarters, in the presence of Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Executive Chairperson and Founder of Biocon Limited, and Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto Limited.
Speaking at the launch, Rajiv Bajaj highlighted the increasing role of women in Bajaj Auto’s workforce, which has grown to nearly 20%, and emphasized the scholarship as a tribute to his mother, Rupa Rahul Bajaj. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw noted that promoting women in engineering is both a social and economic necessity. The event also unveiled Bajaj Auto Foundation’s vision, “Where there’s a skill, there’s a way,” reinforcing its long-term commitment to skilling, education, and workforce development in India.
