The launch event for the SKAL India National Congress 2026, one of the most significant annual events in India’s tourism and hospitality industry, was officially unveiled today at The Residency Towers, Coimbatore.
Organized by SKAL International Coimbatore, the national conference is scheduled to take place from August 12 to 15, 2026, at Le Meridien Hotel, Coimbatore.
Marking a major milestone, this is the first time the prestigious event is being hosted in the city. The four-day conference is set to bring together leading tourism, travel, and hospitality professionals, industry leaders, and organization representatives from across India and abroad.
The launch event was graced by Chief Guest Mr. T. Srinivasan, Managing Director of Annapoorna Hotels. Other distinguished invitees included Mr. Satheesh K.S. (IFS), Regional Passport Officer, Coimbatore; Mrs. T. Jegatheeswari, District Tourism Officer, Coimbatore; and Mr. Sundar Singaram, Executive Director of the South India Hotels and Restaurants Association (SIHRA).
Addressing the media jointly, Mr. Sanjeev Mehra, President of SKAL India; Mr. S.N.S. Mohan, Vice President of SKAL International; Mr. Ramesh Chandrakumar, President of SKAL International Coimbatore; Mr. P.K. Ganesh, Conference Chairman; and Mr. Nijo Augustine, Secretary, emphasized the strategic importance of the event.
They highlighted that the conference will serve as a premier platform to showcase Tamil Nadu’s rich culture, heritage, tourist destinations, and unique attractions to both national and international audiences.
The primary objective of this year's congress is to firmly position Coimbatore and its surrounding tourist destinations on the global tourism map, driving a significant increase in tourist arrivals to the region. Over the course of the three-night, four-day conference, delegates will be given firsthand experiences of Coimbatore’s local cuisine, heritage, and unique regional tourism resources.
Furthermore, the summit will host deep-dive discussions on crucial themes shaping the future of the Indian hospitality landscape, including environmental conservation, responsible tourism, community participation, and heritage preservation.
With 25 active SKAL clubs operating across India, the organization functions as a powerful networking platform connecting hotel owners, hospitality professionals, catering industry stakeholders, and hotel management educational institutions. The organizers expressed absolute confidence that this upcoming summit will solidify Coimbatore's standing as a leading hub for tourism and hospitality in India.
