The birthday of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was celebrated in Erode with a series of events highlighting unity and welfare.
The day began with a special puja at the Periya Mariamman Temple, led by Congress zonal president Vijayabaskar, where sweets were distributed to devotees.
Later, at the Congress party office, a multi-faith prayer was organized under the leadership of district president Rajesh Rajappa. The prayer was jointly conducted by Sivanaadiyar Oduvar Janarthanan, Pastor David, and Mosque Imam Anas, symbolizing communal harmony.
Following the prayers, a cake-cutting ceremony was held to mark the occasion. Welfare assistance was also distributed, including pencils, pens, and notebooks for students, as well as sarees for underprivileged women.
Several senior leaders participated in the celebration, including former MLA R.M. Palanisamy, former district presidents Thiruchelvam, state general council member Mariyappan, former councillor Surampatti Samrat Ashok, media wing president Mohammed Arshad, and minority wing deputy president Basha, among others.
