Madurai’s hospitality landscape has entered a new era with the launch of The Residency Signature Madurai, a sprawling luxury hotel and convention destination that blends the city’s rich cultural heritage with contemporary global standards of hospitality.
Spread across seven acres and covering nearly five lakh square feet, the landmark property is among Tamil Nadu’s most ambitious hospitality developments. Inspired by the architectural grandeur of the historic Meenakshi Amman Temple, the hotel features nearly 300 intricately designed pillars modeled after the famed Thousand Pillar Mandapam. Designed by Singapore-based architect Wong Chiu Man, the property offers panoramic views of the temple’s four gopurams and the scenic Thiruparankundram Hills.
The hotel houses 186 luxury rooms and suites, along with five exclusive rooms in its convention centre. Premium accommodations include a 2,000-square-foot Presidential Suite and spacious Executive and Club Suites equipped with smart automation and modern luxury amenities.
Speaking at the launch, Ravi Appasamy said the property is a tribute to Madurai’s cultural soul and architectural heritage. Rohit Ravi described the opening as a major milestone that elevates the city’s luxury hospitality offerings.
The property features multiple dining destinations, including all-day restaurant Chithirai, premium bar Eden, signature Oriental restaurant Chin Chin, and artisanal pâtisserie Krave. An Indian specialty restaurant, The Grand Trunk, is expected to open soon.
A major highlight is its expansive convention centre, capable of hosting up to 5,000 guests. The venue includes grand ballrooms, banquet halls, open-air wedding spaces, corporate meeting rooms and event lounges, making it one of the largest hospitality-led event destinations in Tamil Nadu.
The hotel also offers premium wellness facilities, including Aavraa Spa, an outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre, yoga and meditation spaces, and a dedicated children’s activity zone, positioning itself as a premier destination for leisure, business and celebrations in South India.
