The World Day Against Child Labour was observed at the Panchayat Union Middle School in Keezhakottai, located in Kalaiyarkovil Union of Sivagangai district, in accordance with the directions of the Labour Department and the guidelines issued by the Directorate of Elementary Education.
The programme was presided over by Headmistress Deivanai. Teachers Vasuki and Ganesan were present on the occasion, while English Graduate Teacher Geetha delivered the welcome address.
Speaking at the event, Science Graduate Teacher Arokiyasamy emphasized that education is a fundamental right of every child and stressed that children below the age of 14 should never be engaged in any form of labour. He highlighted the importance of encouraging school attendance and called upon everyone to contribute towards making Tamil Nadu a child labour-free state.
As part of the programme, Mathematics Graduate Teacher Meenakshi administered the anti-child labour pledge, which was taken by students and teachers, reaffirming their commitment to eliminating child labour and promoting education for all children.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Computer Instructor Vidya.
