A grand triple event was held at Arumugam Pillai Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Tiruppathur, Sivagangai district, recently.
The programme featured the inauguration of the Anti-Drug and Environmental Club, a felicitation ceremony for teachers who helped the school achieve a 100 percent pass rate in the government public examinations, and the observance of the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day pledge.
The event was presided over by Headmaster Bharathidasan. Teacher Ravindran, District Green Friend Sharmila, and School Management Committee Vice-Chairman Saravanan were present on the occasion.
Tiruppathur MLA S. Srinivasa Sethupathi, who attended as the chief guest, hoisted the National Flag and administered the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day pledge. He also honoured teachers with special awards in recognition of their contribution towards achieving an excellent pass percentage in the public examinations.
Later, the MLA flagged off an awareness rally on anti-drug abuse and environmental protection, in which teachers and students actively participated. Members of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS) also took part in the rally.
Among those present were legal advisor and advocate Shanmugam, alumnus M. Dinesh Kumar, and teachers Renuka, Priya, Arumugam, Devi, Parameswari, Muthukkani, Bhagampriyal, Muthupandi, Antony, Venkataraghavan, Mayakkannan, Jabar Nisha, and Jayamary.
Earlier, Teacher Pandian welcomed the gathering, while Teacher Senthil Kumar delivered the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the event.
