CSIR–Structural Engineering Research Centre (CSIR-SERC), Chennai, is hosting a six-day National-Level Expert Advisory Committee (EAC) Review Meeting from 6 to 11 July 2026, organised by the Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology (CSTT), Ministry of Education, Government of India.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. N. Anandavalli, Director, CSIR-SERC, in the presence of Shri Deepak Kumar, Assistant Director, Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology (CSTT), Ministry of Education, Government of India, New Delhi, who is participating in the workshop and guiding the deliberations on technical terminology development.
The Expert Advisory Committee meeting is dedicated to the review and refinement of the trilingual Fundamental Glossary of Information Technology in English, Hindi, Tamil, as well as Telugu. The initiative aims to standardise technical terminology and make it more accurate, consistent, and accessible to students, teachers, researchers, and professionals across the country.
The workshop brings together eminent academicians, language experts, subject specialists, and researchers from leading universities and institutions. Through collaborative discussions and expert review, the committee is working towards developing a comprehensive and user-friendly technical glossary that will facilitate the effective communication of Information Technology concepts in Indian languages.
The initiative is closely aligned with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasises the importance of imparting higher and technical education in Indian languages. By strengthening scientific and technical terminology in regional languages, the programme seeks to promote inclusive education, improve conceptual understanding, and expand access to quality learning resources for students from diverse linguistic backgrounds.

The six-day review meeting is expected to make a significant contribution to the development of standardised multilingual technical terminology and support the larger national mission of strengthening technical education in Indian languages. The outcome of the deliberations will serve as a valuable resource for educational institutions, translators, researchers, authors, and policymakers, thereby promoting greater accessibility to scientific and technical knowledge across India.
