Housing Minister Reviews Urban Development and Housing Projects in Coimbatore

Tamil Nadu Minister for Housing and Urban Development P. Rajkumar chaired a review meeting on housing and urban development projects at the Coimbatore District Collectorate on Thursday.


The meeting was attended by Tamil Nadu Housing Board Managing Director Dr. S. Prabhakar, IAS, District Collector Pawan Kumar G. Giriyappanavar, IAS, senior engineers of the Tamil Nadu Housing Board and Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board, District Revenue Officer S. Madhuranthaki, Revenue Divisional Officer (South) Maruthipriya, and other government officials.


During the meeting, the Minister reviewed the progress of several projects being implemented by the Tamil Nadu Housing Board, including property name transfers, high-income and middle-income apartment projects at Ganapathy and Singanallur, government rental housing schemes, redevelopment of old apartment complexes, housing layouts, plots earmarked for sale, redevelopment projects undertaken through private developers and residents' welfare associations, instalment-based housing schemes at Pollachi and Seeranaickenpalayam, reconstruction of government staff quarters, and ongoing rental housing projects at Saravanampatti, Ganapathy and Singanallur.


He also reviewed the status of buildings identified for demolition, the Race Course Phase-I Colony redevelopment, projects related to the District Revenue Officer's campus, progress of land acquisition, compensation to landowners, pending issues, and the progress of retaining wall and infrastructure development works. Officials were instructed to expedite all pending works.


The Minister further directed officials of the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board to complete housing projects under construction at Ukkadam CMC Colony, Variety Hall Road and Ezhil Nagar quickly while maintaining high construction quality so they can be brought into public use at the earliest.


Addressing officials, the Minister stressed the need for prompt action on public grievances, giving priority to requests for basic civic amenities, and ensuring full cooperation in the implementation of all Tamil Nadu Government welfare and infrastructure projects.


Following the review meeting, Minister Rajkumar conducted field inspections at the Tamil Nadu Housing Board residential complexes at Race Course, including the Superintending Engineer/Superintendent of Police Housing Board Quarters, and the District Forest Officer Housing Board residential complex, where he reviewed the condition of the facilities and ongoing development works.
