The International Study Centre of Lady Doak College is conducting a month-long International Service-Learning Programme from July 7 to August 7, 2026, with the participation of eight students from the International Christian University, Japan. The programme introduces the participants to India's social, cultural and educational landscape, with a special focus on Tamil Nadu. Through lectures by eminent experts, the students are gaining insights into Indian culture, caste, religion, the education system, gender issues and contemporary social realities.
As part of the experiential learning component, the students are visiting historically significant sites, including the Jain caves and the archaeological site at Keeladi, besides volunteering at schools as part of their service-learning initiative. The programme has also facilitated intercultural exchange between the visiting students and their counterparts at Lady Doak College, providing opportunities for meaningful interaction, shared learning and cross-cultural understanding.
The initiative reflects Lady Doak College's commitment to fostering global citizenship by promoting academic collaboration, cultural exchange and community engagement, benefiting both the visiting delegates and the college community.
