The Tamil Nadu Handloom Weavers' Cooperative Society (Co-optex) yesterday inaugurated its modernised 'Puduppaavu' showroom in New Delhi, marking another step towards promoting Tamil Nadu's rich handloom heritage at the national level.
The showroom was inaugurated on Monday (13 July) at the State Emporia Complex in Connaught Place by Tamil Nadu Minister for Handlooms and Textiles M. Vijay Balaji. The event was attended by Tamil Nadu Minister for Industries and Investment Promotion S. Keerthana, drawing an enthusiastic response from the Tamil community and handloom enthusiasts in the national capital.
The renovated showroom has been established with the objective of showcasing and expanding the reach of Tamil Nadu's traditional handloom products across India and internationally.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Tamil Nadu Government's Special Representative in New Delhi, K. Venkata Narayana, who participated as the Guest of Honour.
The modernised 'Puduppaavu' showroom features a wide range of Tamil Nadu's renowned handloom products, including Kanchipuram silk sarees, Arani silk sarees, Coimbatore Kora cotton fabrics, traditional cotton sarees from various districts, dhotis, churidar materials, and handloom home furnishing products, all of which are now available for customers in New Delhi.
