Rotary Club of Kalaiyarkovil Supreme Launches Rotary Year

Marking the beginning of the 2026–27 Rotary year, the Rotary Club of Kalaiyarkovil Supreme organised a tree plantation drive as its first community service initiative at the Panchayat Union Middle School in Keezhakottai, Kalaiyarkovil Union, Sivaganga district.


The programme was led by the club's 2026–27 President, Rotarian Vincent Charles, while Headmistress Deivaanai presided over the event. Former President Sundar, Community Service Director Padmanaban, and Project Director Jeyajesu Selvakumar were present. Mathematics Graduate Teacher Meenakshi welcomed the gathering.


As part of a district-wide environmental initiative led by Rotary District 3212 Governor Rotarian Gandhi Krishnan, more than 125 Rotary clubs across the district have planned to undertake large-scale tree plantation drives throughout the month to promote environmental conservation.


The chief guest, Prabhu, Founder of NITCO Technology, Japan, encouraged students to plant and nurture a tree on every birthday, stressing the importance of protecting the environment for future generations.


Treasurer Charles, members Manikandan and Palanisamy, and senior Central Government advocate Amirthan conveyed their best wishes during the event.


The programme was coordinated by Arokiyasamy, Environmental Forum Coordinator and Secretary of the Rotary Club of Kalaiyarkovil Supreme, who made all the arrangements for the plantation drive.


Rotary members, teachers, and students actively participated in planting saplings. The vote of thanks was delivered by teacher Joseph. Teacher Vasugi, Computer Instructor Vidya Rajalakshmi, and cook Anjalai were also present.
