On the occasion of National Doctors' Day, a felicitation ceremony was held at Sri Shanmugapriya Hospital, located in Sowripalayam, Coimbatore, to honour the exemplary medical services of Dr. Subramaniam, founder of Kamban Kalai Koodam, Tamil enthusiast, diabetologist and general physician, Dr. Lakshmi, gynaecologist, and Dr. Mohan Kannan, neurologist.
The doctors were recognised for rendering more than 50 years of dedicated medical service and for their continued support to underprivileged students through educational assistance. The event was jointly organised by Oor Koodi Ther Izhuthal Nagaradha Therum Nagarum Organisation, Paalam Social Activists Group, Sowripalayam Catholic Devanga Welfare Association, and members of the public.
As part of the celebrations, the doctors were honoured with garlands and ceremonial shawls. Special prayers were offered for their well-being at Sri Sakthi Mariamman Temple, Periya Mariamman Temple, St. Xavier's Church, and Periyar Nagar Mosque, after which sacred offerings (prasadam) were presented to the doctors.
Speakers at the event praised the invaluable services of the doctors as well as the dedication of the hospital staff. A Doctors' Day pledge was also administered during the programme.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Subramaniam expressed his gratitude and shared valuable advice on maintaining good health and leading a healthy lifestyle.
