Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched a series of promotional initiatives to mark India’s 80th Independence Day and accelerate the adoption of its indigenous 4G services. As part of the celebrations, BSNL is offering free SIM cards under its Freedom 2.0 plan for Rs.1 from August 12 to September 12, 2026. The telecom major has also introduced a concessional Rs.1,111 FTTH plan and satellite phone services.
The offers are available across all BSNL Customer Service Centres in the Madurai Business Area, covering Madurai, Dindigul, Theni, Virudhunagar, Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram revenue districts. The initiative is aimed at encouraging more customers to shift to BSNL’s high-speed 4G network and access its broadband services at affordable rates.
BSNL currently provides 2G, 3G and 4G mobile services in the Madurai Business Area through 990 mobile towers and 34 Universal Service Obligation (USO) mobile towers. The company’s 4G technology is indigenously developed by the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), while the equipment has been manufactured and deployed by TCS and Tejas Networks. The equipment is also 5G-upgradable, supporting the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
The indigenous 4G network is operational across 1,014 mobile towers in the Madurai Business Area. BSNL has appealed to its existing 2G and 3G customers to upgrade their SIM cards to 4G free of cost at BSNL customer service centres. The upgrade will enable customers to access high-speed data services and benefit from the expanded 4G network.
In the FTTH segment, BSNL’s Bharat Fiber Basic Neo plan starts at Rs.449 and provides 50 Mbps speed with up to 3,300 GB of data. The Rs.849 Fibre Value Plus OTT plan offers 150 Mbps speed, up to 5,000 GB of data, unlimited voice calls and bundled subscriptions to OTT platforms such as Disney+ Hotstar, SonyLIV and ZEE5. BSNL has also introduced IPTV services through a partnership with Skypro, with plans starting from Rs.122 and offering access to 400 free channels.
BSNL also offers a range of prepaid mobile plans, including Rs.199, Rs.299, Rs.485, Rs.599, Rs.1,499 and Rs.1,999 plans, catering to different data and validity requirements.

BSNL also provides enterprise services including leased circuits, Internet leased lines, SIP Trunk, cloud services, VSAT, M2M/IoT solutions and satellite phone services.
