The Department of Physics at Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College organised a career awareness programme titled "From Classroom to ISRO: Your Role in the Next Generation Space Sector" on July 20, 2026, to introduce students to career opportunities in the space sciences.

Dr. G. Selvarani, Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at Sri Meenakshi Government Arts College for Women, was the chief guest and delivered the keynote address.

College Principal Dr. A. Ramasubbaiah presided over the programme, while Dr. S. S. Jayapalakrishnan, Head of the Department of Physics, welcomed the gathering. Assistant Professor Dr. G. Dhanalakshmi introduced the chief guest.

In her address, Dr. Selvarani explained how the fundamental principles of physics taught in classrooms are transformed into advanced technologies at national space agencies such as the Indian Space Research Organisation. She highlighted career opportunities in aerospace engineering, satellite technology, astrophysics, and atmospheric research, and offered guidance to undergraduate and postgraduate physics students on planning careers in these emerging fields.

She also spoke about the evolving demands of modern space research, outlining the technical skills, research approaches and professional competencies that aspiring scientists should develop to build successful careers in the space sector.

Around 100 students participated enthusiastically in the programme and interacted with the resource person during the interactive session.
